Frequently Asked Questions About Our Campaign

Why do we have to act now?

Mt. Calvary’s current Christian education, meeting and fellowship space barely meets our needs today. Very quickly it will not be sufficient to meet the needs of our expanding children, youth, music, senior and outreach ministries as God blesses us with continued growth. Our challenge has been to maximize our facility to make room for the people He is bringing to Mt. Calvary. Since 1997 our church leadership has looked at many solutions to our facility needs. We now must respond in faith and build in order to reap the harvest that God desires.

How does this project connect to our congregation’s mission?

Our mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the Lord of the harvest has uniquely equipped our church to minister to this local community. We trust that God will use each one of us, together with the Mt. Calvary staff and the expanded facility to draw more people to a living faith and committed discipleship. This is God’s vision and our mission.

What planning and thought has gone into this effort?

Our church leaders have been developing these specific plans for three years. Their research has included:

  • A careful survey of every Mt. Calvary ministry to discern staff and facility needs
  • A site review to discern our options at the current site
  • A study of alternative area sites and their cost
  • The development of concept plans and cost estimates with the architectural firm J. Stewart Roberts and Associates
  • We now have a cost effective and cohesive plan to best advance the work of our Lord in our community.

Are we confident that this expansion project is part of God’s plan for Mt. Calvary?

Yes, we are confident God is leading Mt. Calvary as we trust Him on our journey of faith. We have been in continual prayer that the Lord would guide our path and lead us in the direction He would have us go. We are committed to the unique call God has given to our church in this time and we have already seen His hand at work among us and in our regional outreach. We trust, and are completely dependent on our Lord’s continued leading.

What are we building and what will it look like?

We are calling the expanded facility Mt. Calvary’s “Spiritual Life Center”

The Spiritual Life Center will provide the freedom we need to fulfill our ministry locally and regionally.  It will consist of both new construction and renovated portions of the current facilities.  Specifically, it will:

  • Add four new sub-dividable multipurpose classrooms with bathroom facilities to support the Christian Pre-School, the Sunday School and other Christian education activities at Mt. Calvary
  • Enclose the courtyard to create a welcoming lobby, a better nursery, a meeting room, and improved bathrooms
  • Renovate or replace the failing mechanical/heating systems
  • Repurpose some existing Christian education classrooms to create a youth zone, music space and a multi-purpose room
  • Update our kitchen for expanded fellowship opportunities

How much will this entire program cost?

The completed building will cost approximately three million dollars. This cost includes the architect fees, engineering work, permits, site work and construction.

What happens during a stewardship campaign?

A stewardship campaign is a journey of faith and we can expect many blessings and challenges during that journey. When we step out in faith we will be changed. We will grow spiritually as individuals, families and a congregation. We can expect trials of many kinds for we know that Satan does not want us to act in faith but to live in fear. Our confidence remains in Jesus Christ who leads His church forward to accomplish His saving task.  This journey of faith will be a spiritual benchmark as we see God at work among us and in us to fulfill His plan!

How can I help in the effort?

Please continue to give thanks for all the exciting ways God is using our Church’s ministries, while at the same time prayerfully asking Him what He wants to do through you in making a sacrificial gift to the campaign.
